Start with budget
Decide what your realistic “ALL-IN” budget is. This includes cabinets, material, appliances, and labor.

Look for inspiration
Checkout Instagram, Pinterest, Houzz. Skim through magazines. Watch your favorite remodel show. Make sure to save pics or write down what you like and must-have. This really helps in the design process.

Hire a licensed contractor
Make sure you have reviewed their work and that they are fully licensed in your state. (A tip to hiring a contractor- ask your friends. Referrals are always the best. You can see their work firsthand and get honest feedback from your friend.) At this time your contractor will tell you when he is available to start your project. He will inspect your space, measure, and let you know what can and cannot be done. This is probably the best time to ask what appliance size can purchased.

Selecting material and designing your kitchen
Make your appointment at Brooklyn Tile and Design. Let us know when your contractor is ready to start working. Supply chain interruptions have extended lead times in the industry. 2021 cabinet lead times can take 2-3 weeks for imported cabinets and 12-20 weeks for domestic made cabinets. We will help you determine which cabinet company will fit your schedule and needs. At this time, with your contractor’s rough measurement, our kitchen designer will help you select your cabinets and generate 3D renderings of what the finished project will look like.

Order appliances
Use accurate measurements and review your selections with our kitchen designer before the cabinets are ordered. Again, supply chain delays have led to longer lead times for appliances. Make selections that best suits your needs and project.

Order Cabinets
Order your cabinets after reviewing designs with our designer and finalizing your appliances.

Procure all accessories and other materials
It would be best to order and store all other materials at this time like hardware, faucet, flooring, backsplash. Store all materials at home so it is readily available for your contractor. Be sure to check for any damages as soon as it arrives.

Demo, construction and install

Brooklyn Tile and Design

A kitchen remodel is one of the most exciting home upgrades—but it’s also one of the trickiest. Do you embrace the latest trends, or opt for a design that will stand the test of time? The key is balance: creating a kitchen that feels fresh and current while maintaining elements that will remain stylish for years to come. Here’s how you can achieve the perfect blend of timeless and trendy.

  1. Start with a Classic Foundation

A strong, neutral foundation is the secret to longevity. Timeless kitchens often feature:

    • Neutral Colors – White, beige and soft earth tones rarely go out of style.
    • Classic Cabinetry – Shaker-style cabinets, for example, have been popular for centuries.
    • Natural Materials – Wood, stone, and simple tile textures age gracefully.
